🥭 Orange Sherbet – How to Tell If It’s Ready to Eat

Orange Sherbet mangoes are famous for their intense citrus-candy sweetness and smooth, fiber-light flesh. Here’s how to know when they’re perfect:

🤲 1. Gently Squeeze (Best Test)

  • It should feel slightly soft with a gentle give, like a ripe avocado.
  • Hard = not ready.
  • Very soft or mushy = overripe.

🎨 2. Look at the Color

  • Skin turns deep yellow to orange when ripe.
  • Some green patches can still remain — that’s normal.

👃 3. Smell Near the Stem

  • A ripe one has a strong sweet, citrusy aroma (almost like orange candy).
  • Little to no smell = needs more time.

⚖️ 4. Weight

  • It should feel heavy for its size, meaning juicy inside.

👀 5. Skin Texture

  • Slight wrinkling near the stem = peak sweetness.
  • Deep shriveling or sour/fermented smell = overripe.

⏳ If It’s Not Ready Yet

  • Leave at room temperature for 2–4 days.
  • Place in a paper bag to speed up ripening.
  • Once ripe, refrigerate and eat within a few days.
